A disinfection standard, not an inspection manual

Here’s the thing people often mix up. AWWA C652 is a disinfection standard. It covers sanitary procedures relevant to underwater inspection and cleaning of potable water storage, but it doesn’t describe how the inspection itself should be carried out. The technical side gets defined separately.

Preparing the equipment

AWWA cleaning and inspection begins well before the hatch opens. Equipment is either potable only or properly segregated, then cleaned and disinfected under a documented procedure. For ROV, tether and diving gear, Ven Tech commonly uses a 200 ppm chlorine solution when it fits the approved plan.

Concentration, contact method, staging and records get confirmed for each scope, not assumed. Transport and setup matter as much as the rinse itself, because a clean ROV that sits on a dirty tailgate has undone the whole exercise. Boundaries around clean equipment are set early and kept.
